Product Description:
The 5PC600.5X05-01 industrial PC is built by B&R Automation within the 5PC Industrial Automation Units series. It serves as the main control platform for motion axes, safety routines, and HMI data in automated equipment. Installed in a protected cabinet, the device integrates field networking, removable storage, and expansion buses so machine control and visualization can be handled in one unit. It is used in packaging, assembly, and process lines where centralized control hardware is needed for coordinated operation.
Two onboard communication ports handle asynchronous protocols at up to 115 kbit/s, allowing serial sensors or weight scales to interface with the CPU. Network traffic requiring higher throughput is routed through 2 Ethernet ports that support line speeds of 100 Mbit/s for PLC-to-MES data exchange. A single CompactFlash Type I slot provides removable recipe and log storage, while two USB connectors support service media and peripheral devices. For local I/O or motion cards, the chassis offers 5 PCI slots on a 33 MHz bus, enabling access to analog, motion-control, or fieldbus interfaces without external racks. Two slide-in drive bays accommodate additional mass storage or optical media, which can be useful when local data retention or software loading is required.
The controller draws its logic power from a nominal input of 24 VDC and requires a continuous supply of 5 A. If that supply momentarily collapses, an energy store holds the system for 10 ms, helping the unit bridge very short interruptions without an immediate shutdown. All electronics reside behind an IP20 enclosure that is 270 mm high and 253 mm deep, allowing installation in standard machine panels with space for airflow. A panel-interface connector in DVI-I format routes video to remote monitors, and the internal layout leaves room for modular expansion cards and organized cable routing inside the cabinet.
