The 5PC600.5X02-01 is an industrial PC platform manufactured by B&R Automation within the 5PC Industrial Automation Units series. Designed for panel or cabinet mounting, the unit consolidates control, visualization, and networking tasks that traditionally require separate PLCs and host computers. By hosting real-time operating software and providing direct field interfaces, it coordinates drives, sensors, and higher-level supervisory networks throughout an automation cell.
Electrical supply is standardized at 24 VDC, and the electronics draw a nominal 3.8 A, allowing the controller to share low-voltage power rails with distributed I/O modules. The housing is protected to IP20, so installation inside a closed cabinet is required when dust or liquid exposure is expected. A physical depth of 253 mm and a height of 270 mm support compact lateral mounting while still leaving room for one slide-in drive bay and a Type I CompactFlash carrier. Two PCI slots conforming to the 2.2 standard connect fieldbus or motion cards, and their backplane operates at 33 MHz across a 32-bit data path to keep legacy and mezzanine adapters compatible. The second internal expansion route is a single CompactFlash slot that accepts removable Type I memory for system files or recipe storage.
Field connectivity is integrated rather than optional. Two isolated Ethernet interfaces provide machine-level networks and upstream switch connections, and the unit includes 2 Ethernet ports that can be assigned to separate IP subnets. Legacy serial equipment is handled through 2 RS232 ports, which are useful for barcode readers or simple drives. USB peripherals such as service sticks or wireless adapters attach through dual sockets that follow the USB 2.0 standard, and removable media is supported through 1 CompactFlash slot located on the front panel. The separate network, serial, and USB connections allow the unit to communicate with several device types at the same time.
