Product Description:
The 5PC600.5X01-00 is an industrial PC-based controller manufactured by B&R Automation within the 5PC Industrial Automation Units series. It serves as the supervisory control platform in automated cells, handling deterministic control loops, motion profiles, and HMI tasks from a single chassis. By combining processing, storage, and network interfaces in one unit, it streamlines panel wiring and reduces the cabinet space that would otherwise be used by separate PLC, drive, and gateway hardware. This layout also allows one device to coordinate machine logic, operator interaction, and communication with surrounding automation equipment.
Control circuits supply the unit with a nominal 24 VDC, while internal regulators draw up to 3.8 A, so the power budget should reserve about 90 W for continuous operation. The enclosure carries an IP20 rating, which means it is intended for installation inside a closed cabinet while still allowing tool-free access during service. One PCI expansion slot operates on a 33 MHz bus, allowing optional interface cards such as CANopen or motion modules to be added. Display output is provided through a DVI-I connector that supports digital flat panels and analog VGA monitors. Standard connectivity includes two Ethernet ports for separate networks, two serial ports with data rates up to 115 kbit/s, two USB 2.0 host ports, and one CompactFlash slot for removable storage. A dedicated MTCX logic circuit supervises power-fail events, and the real-time clock backup capacitor maintains system time long enough for an orderly shutdown.
Physical dimensions of 251 mm in depth and 270 mm in height allow the chassis to mount on standard 19-inch plate rails without overhanging adjacent equipment. Operator feedback tones are handled by an integrated AC97 audio codec, so no separate sound hardware is required. After a power loss, the real-time clock maintains timestamp integrity for 10 ms, which helps preserve the sequence of logged events during shutdown. Passive convection through side vents removes heat without fans, helping keep moving-part wear low. Internal boards can be serviced without disturbing field wiring, which simplifies access inside a control cabinet.
