Product Description:
B&R Automation designed the 5P91471201.001-02 for its 5PC Industrial Automation Units series. This fanless embedded PC is installed on DIN rail inside a control cabinet. It hosts the real-time operating system for motion sequences, operator interfaces, and network routing between field buses and supervisory computers in automated plants.
The computing section is led by an Intel Core i7-3555LE processor; its dual-core architecture provides two physical cores that split deterministic control loops from background services while running at 2500 MHz. System memory consists of 1 GB of DDR3 SDRAM operating at DDR3-1600 (PC3-12800) timing to support fast data exchange with the QM77 chipset. The electronics are enclosed to the IP20 protection level, so mounting in a protected cabinet is required. The unit accepts power from a 24 VDC ±25% source, giving headroom for line dips common on factory floors. One PCIe half-size slot is available for additional fieldbus or image-capture cards, and the Intel QM77 hub maintains data flow between the expansion slot and the CPU cores.
For non-volatile storage, the unit ships with a 2 GB SLC CFast card, providing high endurance for cyclic log files and recipe data. Two RJ-45 connectors expose independent NICs that negotiate 10/100/1000 Mbit/s, allowing simultaneous machine control traffic and remote diagnostics. The internal PCIe backplane runs at x8 (4 GB/s), so attached expansion cards avoid throughput limitations. Peripheral connectivity is completed by 5 USB ports that accept service keyboards, UPS links, or removable drives. These interfaces support data logging and large file transfers during normal machine operation. Those tasks can be handled without interrupting time-critical PLC cycles or routine network communication.
