Product Description:
The 5MP50.0653-02 is a compact handheld HMI produced by B&R Automation within the 5MP Mobile Panels series. Designed as a detachable operator interface, it provides a portable control station that can be moved along production lines while maintaining real-time communication with PLC hardware through a single hybrid cable. The unit integrates a resistive touchscreen and physical emergency-stop controls, enabling operators to supervise, adjust, and acknowledge machine sequences without returning to a fixed cabinet panel.
A display diagonal of 6.5 in is combined with a luminance of 500 cd/m², so screens remain readable under factory lighting. The panel’s 300:1 contrast ratio keeps text and trend curves sharp, and the native graphics grid of 640 × 480 pixels eliminates scaling artifacts in the visualization runtime. An analog resistive sensor layer accepts input from gloved fingers, and the front membrane has an IP65 sealing rating that prevents splashing coolant or dust from reaching internal boards. The device has a rated free-fall tolerance of 1.5 m onto concrete, allowing it to withstand incidental drops during shift changes.
Inside the housing, an Intel PXA 270 processor runs at 416 MHz, providing processing capacity for visualization, fieldbus communication, and safety monitoring. The platform pairs 256 MB of DRAM with 128 MB of flash memory to store project files and retain recipe data during power cycling. Typical power consumption from the 24 VDC ±25% supply is 9.6 W, so the panel can operate from standard control-cabinet power sources while supporting its 100 Mbit/s Ethernet interface and USB 1.1 service port. With a mass of 1,250 g, the device remains light enough for prolonged handheld operation. Its portable format allows operators to remain near the machine while viewing process information or entering commands. The hybrid cable consolidates communication and power connections, reducing the number of separate leads attached to the handheld panel.
