The 5MP050.0653-K05 is a handheld operator terminal manufactured by B & R Automation as part of the 5MP Mobile Panels series. The device functions as a mobile human-machine interface, allowing operators to start, stop, and adjust machines while remaining within sight of the work area. Two three-position enable switches and normally closed stop contacts are integrated so that motion can be interrupted immediately if the operator releases or actuates the safety chain, making the panel suitable for production lines, robot cells, and other automated equipment that require safe local control.

An Intel application processor running at 416 MHz forms the computational core. The underlying architecture is the Intel PXA 270, a low-power system on a chip intended for embedded control tasks. User interaction occurs on a 6.5 in TFT color display that renders vector graphics and alarms at a native resolution of 640 × 480 px. Touch input uses an analog-resistive layer so gloves can be worn during operation. For plant-wide communication, the panel provides a 10-Base-T/100-Base-TX interface rated at 10/100 Mbit/s, enabling deterministic exchanges with PLCs over standard Ethernet. Two enable switches, an emergency-stop loop with redundant contacts, and an analog-resistive touch field all route through the internal safety bus, helping command latency remain predictable even when network traffic is heavy.

Volatile program data is buffered by 256 MB of DRAM, while application data and recipes are stored in 128 MB of flash so updates persist across power cycles. The electronics operate from a nominal supply of 24 VDC ±25%; at that voltage, the panel draws only 9.6 W, allowing it to share power with light I/O loads inside a pendant enclosure. One USB 1.1 Type A receptacle supports memory sticks for log retrieval. A sealed housing achieves an IP65 rating, so the unit can be sprayed down after shift changes without additional protective covers.
