Product Description:

The B & R Automation 5LS182 as a part of the 5LS Series can be utilized as an addition that improves the industrial automation systems with its characteristics and functional capabilities. This module also offers communication with POWERLINK (V1/V2) fieldbus protocol for fast data transfer. It has 1 MB of battery backed SRAM for its backup power for steady and effective working, even if the power supply is interrupted.

Another feature that can be of interest is that the 5LS182 can operate as both managing and controlled nodes in the POWERLINK network. Due to this flexibility, it can be used in almost any automation scenario concerning the network and may be integrated into the system as a part of it. The module is compatible with the transfer of up to 100 Mbit/s providing high data transfer speeds and system performance.

The 5LS182 has been designed such that it complies with the environmental temperature that can exist in different industries by working in a temperature range of 0 to 55 degrees C. It also has a maximum of 100 meters for the length of a line between stations which also offers a lot of flexibility for the network arrangement and planning. The propagation delay for the hub in the module varies between 0. From 96 to 1 us, thus keeping delays in transferring of the messages to a minimal level.

It is easy to install and supports connection to B&R Automation PC, Panel PC, and even on Desktop PCs. This makes it possible to easily incorporate the 5LS182 into other systems since few changes need to be made. There is also auto-negotiation and auto-MDI/MDIX supported by the module that ensures easy configuration and better connection. Regarding the features of the physical layer, the 5LS182 complies with the 100BASE-TX standard and is compatible with half and full duplex. Nevertheless, in POWERLINK mode, it runs on half-duplex mode while in Ethernet mode it works in full-duplex.The storage temperature conditions of the 5LS182 is -25 to 70 degrees C. This makes it a suitable product for long-term use, especially for industries that require building structures.
