The 5C5600.11 is a system unit produced by B & R Automation for the 5CS Provit Controller System Units series. Installed inside an automation cabinet, it distributes power and provides expansion space for modular control hardware. The housing is arranged so ISA and PCI cards can be used in the same controller, allowing the unit to support sequential control tasks as well as process-related functions. This layout lets older interface cards and newer peripheral cards operate from the same control platform without requiring separate enclosures.

The backplane offers a total of 6 slots, including 3 combo ISA/PCI positions and 2 dedicated ISA positions. An additional half-size ISA slot supports legacy interface cards. A bypass circuit rated for 20 ms at the full load of 100 W helps maintain logic power during brief input interruptions. Input energy is routed through a 3-pin DSUB supply connector, and the available power budget limits the connected cards to the supported load of the unit. Because the ISA sections share a common bus, interrupt-driven interface cards can be installed while the PCI section remains available for higher-bandwidth expansion devices.

Thermal management is handled by a single fan that measures 92 mm across. Its impeller uses ball bearings, and fan speed is controlled by an analog loop so airflow rises and falls with load. The chassis accepts an input of 115 / 230 VAC, and the bypass function helps the controller ride through short mains disturbances. On the digital side, the PCI backplane operates at 33 MHz and distributes 5 V to the card slots, matching standard peripheral requirements. The cooling path moves air across the card edges, which helps reduce hot spots around power regulators and other densely populated areas on installed boards.
