Product Description:
The 5CFCRD.4096-03 is a compact flash storage card manufactured by B & R Automation for its 5CF Compact Flash Cards series. Within machine controllers and HMI panels, the card provides removable nonvolatile memory so firmware, recipes, or log files can be transferred or backed up without stopping production. Because it uses single-level cell NAND technology and onboard ECC, the device is intended for installations where high write endurance and strong data integrity are needed during continuous industrial operation. Because the card is removable, machine data can be archived, updated, or duplicated without altering the controller hardware.
This model offers a capacity of 4 GB, allowing local retention of sizable program code and diagnostic archives. Sequential throughput reaches 8 MB/s while reading and 6 MB/s while writing, which shortens boot times and accelerates file transfers between the PLC and external computers. These transfer rates are suited to routine operating-system loads and frequent data exchange inside industrial control cabinets. Flash cells can sustain 2,000,000 erase/write cycles (typical), so repeated recipe updates or high-frequency log rotation do not exhaust the medium during the controller’s expected life. Error correction lowers the uncorrectable error rate to less than 1 unrecoverable error per 1014 bits read, supporting long-term retention of configuration data even in electrically noisy environments.
Service life is supported by a mean time between failures of >4,000,000 h at 25 °C, and static wear leveling spreads block usage uniformly across the media. The card is only 3.3 mm high and 42.8 mm wide, and its mass of 11.4 g places very little load on card-edge connectors in vibration-prone equipment. The slim form factor helps the card fit narrow slots where adjacent modules and wiring leave little clearance. Because SMART support is not implemented, the host must monitor operating hours or write counts through its own diagnostics when media health tracking is required.
