Product Description:
B&R Automation's 5CFCRD.1024-03 is a removable CompactFlash memory card in the 5CF Compact Flash Cards series. This solid-state device provides nonvolatile storage for B&R PLCs, operator panels, and motion controllers, allowing firmware, recipes, and log files to reside close to the control hardware without relying on rotating media. By matching the controller's card-slot form factor and electrical interface, the card supports easy replacement and allows application data to be duplicated or expanded in industrial automation systems.
Its capacity of 1 GB balances useful program space with quick block erase times, while a measured unrecoverable bit error rate of less than 1 per 10^14 bits read supports long-term data integrity in 24/7 plants. An integrated error-correction engine detects and repairs multi-bit failures during each read cycle. Survival in harsh motion cabinets is supported by a mechanical shock tolerance of 1000 g and a sinusoidal vibration limit of 16.3 g. Static wear leveling distributes writes across the available blocks, and single-level-cell flash technology increases endurance. Operation is permitted up to 24,383 m above sea level, so the card can be used in high-elevation installations. The card does not include SMART status reporting, so monitoring must be handled by the host controller.
The unit weighs only 11.4 g, which reduces load on hinged or card-eject mechanisms. Its in-plane dimensions measure 36.4 ±0.15 mm in length and 42.8 ±0.10 mm in width, matching the Type I CompactFlash outline. The thickness of 3.3 ±0.10 mm fits standard card guides without shims. Because error correction, wear leveling, and endurance management are handled on the device, the controller can treat the flash as a simple block storage target.
