Product Description:
The 5CFCRD.051206 compact flash card is produced by B & R Automation as part of the 5CF Compact Flash Cards series. It is intended for industrial controllers that need solid-state mass storage to keep firmware, machine parameters, and process logs available even when power is removed. Because the module is removable, maintenance staff can exchange cards on the plant floor without opening the control cabinet or reimaging the operating system.
Storage density of 512 MB supports controller operating systems and several revisions of user programs while remaining compatible with legacy file systems. The card reaches a sequential read peak of 53 MB/s, so cold-start load times stay low, and its sequential write ceiling of 27 MB/s lets high-speed trend data be captured without buffering overruns. The flash array endures about 100,000 erase or write cycles, suiting it for frequent recipe updates. During continuous reads, the device averages fewer than <1 error per 10^14 bits read, a figure backed by on-die error-correction logic that hides single-bit faults and keeps file integrity intact.
Over the card’s life it is guaranteed to handle at least 50 TB of cumulative writes, a value achieved through static wear leveling that spreads block usage evenly. Data retention is aided by single-level cell architecture, indicated here as SLC flash, which stores one bit per cell to increase endurance and lower soft-error rates. Drive health can be polled through the controller because S.M.A.R.T. support exposes counters for remaining life, reallocated blocks, and temperature history. Even with the integrated controller and protective casing, the module weighs only 10 g, so it adds negligible mass to compact DIN-rail PCs and fanless HMIs.
