The 5C2001.16 controller from the 5C2 series of controllers manufactured by Provit B & R Automation is a smart and flexible controller that is ideal for industrial workplaces. The controller has a Plug and Play (PnP) BIOS and it has the memory areas designated as per PnP protocol. Moreover, the controller does not require additional utilities and device drivers and thus it is easier to operate. The newer graphic driver 65550 comes with new graphic driver and VESA included in the BIOS for a superior graphic performance. The BIOS also offers options to set display contrast and brightness which is convenient for the user and it can conveniently support hard disks greater than 504 MB size due to HDD modes.

The 5C2001.16 has a smart 80486DX2-66 MHz processor that is able to handle operations effectively in sync with its 8 MB DRAM and 256 KB SRAM. It is one of the few controllers that is compatible with compact flash cards as it has a compact flash slot and does not require any additional drivers like a hard disk to access compact flash cards. The controller has a total of 4 serial interfaces i.e. 2 electrically isolated, 1 parallel interface, and last 16 Byte FIFO. The ethernet option on the controller is BNC and NE2000 compatible and it is protected with Dallas hardware security key.

The 5C2001.16 offers connection for a flat display and also features a monitor. It also has a battery packed real-time clock for an ease of usage for the user. Theh controller has panelware keyboard modules and a 3.5 inch external diskette drive to run compact flash cards directly.
