Product Description:
The 5C2001.07 is a compact processor module produced by B&R Automation for the 5C2 Compact Processors series. The unit consolidates central processing, fieldbus communication, and local I/O coordination in a 24 V DC-powered enclosure. It is suited for mid-scale machine controllers, data concentrators, and HMI gateways in industrial automation environments.
At its core, a 486DX5-133 microprocessor executes deterministic control loops, backed by 8 MB of DRAM for real-time program variables and 256 kB of battery-backed SRAM that retains data through power cycles. The board draws only 20.2 W, allowing the use of passive cabinet designs, and accepts a nominal 24 V DC supply available in most machine panels. Four serial channels connect legacy devices without requiring additional converters. COM1 uses RS-232, COM2 is switchable between RS-232 and TTY, COM3 supports RS-485 or TTY, and COM4 is selectable between RS-232 and RS-422. An isolated CAN interface on the COM3 connector supports distributed I/O, while a BNC ARCNET port connects to older deterministic field networks. The Award Elite BIOS provides standard PC configuration screens for boot order, memory timing, and watchdog settings.
A C&T 65550 graphics controller with 1 MB of video memory drives text or VGA diagnostics through the rear connector, and a 40 mm ball-bearing fan maintains airflow across the processor heat sink. The Ethernet interface uses BNC coaxial cable and is NE2000-compatible, so the module appears as a standard ISA network card to embedded operating systems. For removable storage or specialized interfaces, the board offers two Type II or one Type III PC Card slots that support linear flash storage or PCMCIA fieldbus adapters. Its 182 × 182 × 50 mm footprint matches standard 7-inch rack cutouts, simplifying mechanical integration. An LPT1 bidirectional parallel port supports printer-based logging or simple data capture routines without occupying the serial channels.
