The 5AP981.1505-01 operator panel is produced by B&R Automation within the 5AP Single Touch Automation Panels series. It serves as the primary human-machine interface in automated lines, combining a resistive analog touchscreen with dedicated hardware keys to let operators navigate menus, adjust parameters, and monitor status without a separate PC. The layout supports direct interaction at the machine, so alarms and process changes can be handled from the front of the cabinet. With an enclosure depth of 54 mm, a width of 435 mm, and a height of 430 mm, the unit can be flush-mounted in standard control cabinet doors while still providing a large viewing area.

The panel runs from a nominal supply of 24 VDC ±25% and draws up to 3.2 A during peak operation. Its screen measures 15 in (381 mm) diagonally, presents graphics at 1024 × 768 px, and reaches a luminance of 350 cd/m² thanks to an LED backlight. A native contrast ratio of 1000:1 improves readability of trending data and alarm colors in brightly lit production areas. Touch inputs are captured through a pressure-sensitive resistive layer, making the panel compatible with gloved operation. The aluminum front carries a rating of IP65, which protects against dust and low-pressure water jets. Twenty dedicated function keys (20) sit below the display, while twelve additional soft keys line its perimeter for context-sensitive labeling.
