The 5AP980.1505-K15 is a human-machine interface panel produced by B&R Automation within the 5AP Single Touch Automation Panels series. Intended for machine and process control stations, the unit provides operators with a graphic display and physical keys for direct interaction with PLC-based systems. The panel combines a resistive touch screen with dedicated keys so that it can issue commands, display status, and acknowledge alarms in industrial environments.

The TFT screen measures 15 in (381 mm) diagonally and renders graphics at 1024 x 768 pixels, giving a 4:3 aspect ratio suited to both legacy and modern SCADA layouts. With a color depth of 16.7 million colors, gradients and status icons remain easy to distinguish under factory lighting. The front foil and gasket provide IP65 protection on the mounting side, helping resist dust and water jets on the cabinet front. User input is captured through an analog resistive touch sensor that works reliably with gloved hands or stylus contact. An Elo serial 12-bit controller converts touch position into coordinates for the CPU, while the metal housing supports panel mounting and helps dissipate heat. The overall height is 330 mm and the width is 435 mm, leaving a consistent bezel around the active area.

The rear panel provides 3 x USB 2.0 Type A host ports, and each port can supply 500 mA for flash drives, barcode readers, or service keyboards. The operator front includes 20 programmable function keys and 12 soft keys whose legends change on screen with the active application, allowing quick access without navigating nested menus. At 54 mm deep, the assembly fits shallow terminal boxes while still leaving room for internal cables and the touch controller board.
