Product Description:
The 5AP920.1706-01 operator panel is produced by B&R Automation within the 5AP Single Touch Automation Panels series. Classified as a human-machine interface, it mounts on a machine door or cabinet front to present process data and accept user commands through its built-in touch screen. By combining visualization and input in a sealed housing, the unit reduces wiring between the controller and local indicators, streamlining installation in automated assembly lines, packaging machines, and material-handling stations. Its primary role is to render real-time status graphics while forwarding touch events to the connected PLC.
The visual subsystem centers on a 17 in diagonal TFT color panel that offers 1280 × 1024 px of addressable resolution, allowing detailed SCADA layouts to appear without scaling artifacts. Color depth reaches 16.7 million shades, so alarm highlighting and trend overlays remain distinct. A backlight based on CCFL tubes supplies a luminous output of 250 cd/m², while the contrast ratio of 600:1 preserves legibility under factory lighting. Analog resistive touch technology overlays the glass and detects operator pressure through a polyester sheet, enabling finger or gloved interaction without requiring capacitive coupling. The screen is framed by an aluminum bezel that matches the housing dimensions and positions the panel flush with the enclosure surface.
The panel face achieves IP65 protection once gasketed, so washdown spray cannot infiltrate the 477 mm width, 390 mm height, and 59 mm depth chassis. Power is supplied through a SELV circuit at 24 VDC ±25%, and normal operation draws a maximum of 3.2 A, which helps size the shared low-voltage supply correctly when several stations operate from the same rail. For data exchange or local access, the unit provides 3 front-accessible USB 2.0 Type A receptacles that support flash drives or service keyboards without requiring cabinet entry. The front sealing and low-voltage input make the panel suitable for machine locations where regular cleaning and direct operator access are required.
