B&R Automation manufactures the 5AP Single Touch Automation Panels series. The 5AP920.1505-K80 is a human-machine interface panel that integrates a color TFT display with a resistive touch surface, allowing operators to monitor parameters, enter setpoints, and acknowledge alarms from the machine front. Within an automated line, the device mounts on the cabinet door and provides the visualization layer between PLC logic and plant personnel. The display supports clear status screens, recipe pages, and alarm summaries during routine machine operation.

The panel’s white LED backlight drives a luminance of 350 cd/m², so process graphics remain legible under factory lighting. Image detail is rendered at 1024 × 768 px, giving adequate pixel density for trend charts and diagnostic dialogs. Internal electronics are supplied from a single 24 VDC source, simplifying power distribution inside the enclosure. Command entry is registered through an analog resistive touch layer that accepts gloved operation without recalibration. When mounted flush, the front surface meets IP65, preventing dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from reaching the circuitry. Depth is limited to 54 mm, and the aluminum frame measures 435 mm wide by 330 mm high. The shallow housing also helps the panel fit cabinet doors and swing panels with limited rear clearance.

Visual performance is supported by a 15 in diagonal screen with a native contrast ratio of 1000:1, which helps distinguish alarm colors against darker backgrounds. At peak load, the electronics draw 3.2 A, which helps with power-bus sizing and fuse selection. Three rear USB receptacles provide peripheral access, and the availability of 3 USB 2.0 ports supports barcode readers, flash drives, or maintenance keyboards without an external hub. This arrangement allows local connection of common input devices and removable storage without adding a separate interface box.
