B & R Automation manufactures the 5AP920.1505-K42, a unit in the 5AP Single Touch Automation Panels series. The device is a machine-mounted human–machine interface that presents process data while accepting simple touch inputs from operators. By combining a graphic display, touch sensor, and communications slot in one sealed assembly, it replaces conventional indicator lamps and pushbuttons on packaging machines, filling systems, and assembly cells, supporting concise interaction with the controller without requiring a separate industrial PC at the panel.
The panel uses a TFT color module with LED backlighting. The screen spans 15 in (381 mm) diagonally and renders graphics at 1024 × 768 pixels for clear depiction of status pages. Typical luminance reaches 350 cd/m², while a contrast ratio of 1000:1 keeps text legible against dark backgrounds. A palette of 16.7 million colors allows realistic alarm icons and trend charts. An Elo serial 12-bit touch controller scans an analog resistive layer that registers a single finger, stylus, or gloved press without requiring surface capacitance. The design therefore fits installations that cannot guarantee bare-hand operation, such as food processing or paint lines.
Power is supplied at 24 VDC, and internal regulation feeds three rear Type A connectors that follow the USB 2.0 specification. Each port can source up to 500 mA for memory sticks or service keyboards, eliminating the need for powered hubs. Primary display and touch data reach the device through the Automation Panel Link slot, reducing cabinet wiring to a single hybrid cable. When the bezel is properly gasketed the front surface attains an IP65 rating, blocking dust ingress and high-pressure water jets on wash-down or outdoor equipment enclosures.
