B & R Automation’s 5AP920.1505-K20 operator interface belongs to the 5AP Single Touch Automation Panels series and serves as a human-machine interface for programmable controllers and drive systems. The panel combines a single-touch surface with an embedded processor so operators can issue commands, observe system states, and acknowledge alarms in real time. Its front glass and bezel are built for cabinet mounting in production lines where local visualization is needed, giving direct access to control parameters on the machine. This arrangement supports local operation at the machine, so status review and command entry do not depend on a separate workstation.
The panel is powered from a 24 VDC control supply, keeping it compatible with standard control cabinet buses and simplifying power distribution. Graphics appear on an XGA display, providing a 1024 × 768 pixel layout that supports detailed diagnostic screens. That resolution leaves enough space for trend windows, alarm lists, and navigation elements to remain visible on one screen. The underlying Color TFT technology supports full-color status icons and a wide viewing angle for clearer screen visibility. Operator input is handled through a Resistive touch layer, so the panel can respond to pressure from gloved fingers or a stylus in dusty work areas. Legacy equipment can still be connected through the built-in RS232 channel, which remains useful for barcode readers and simple diagnostic terminals that rely on asynchronous serial communication. The serial connection is also suitable for devices that use straightforward point-to-point data exchange instead of Ethernet-based links. The screen includes debounce filtering and calibration routines that help minimize drift during extended use. These interfaces support log capture, parameter adjustment, and application reloading without removing the unit from the cabinet.
