Product Description:
The 5AP920.1214-K06 operator panel is an HMI unit produced by B&R Automation within the 5AP Single Touch Automation Panels series. This model combines a compact display and an integrated touch layer to provide real-time machine visualization and user input on the factory floor. It is intended for installation on enclosure doors or mounting arms, giving operators direct access to controller diagnostics, recipe changes, and manual overrides. The panel relies on a resistive single-touch surface that tolerates gloves and environmental contamination typical of industrial automation sites.
The visualization area uses a 12.1 in diagonal screen with a native resolution of 800 x 600 px. The display follows a 4:3 aspect ratio, so legacy SCADA layouts designed for standard VGA grids can be reused without scaling. Its TFT color technology offers stable luminance and contrast when the panel is viewed from the side of a machine frame. To survive washdowns and airborne oil mist, the aluminum front is sealed to IP65 / NEMA 4X. This rating blocks dust ingress and high-pressure water jets, while an analog resistive sensor on the top layer registers a single contact point for consistent actuation even when operators wear work gloves.
Electrical integration is straightforward. Control cabinet power supplies can feed the unit with 24 VDC ±25% SELV, provided the source can deliver up to 3.2 A. During continuous operation, the panel typically draws 12 W, a figure that helps panel builders calculate thermal loading in sealed housings. For field updates and peripheral attachment, the bezel exposes one USB 2.0 Type A receptacle, while two additional ports are located on the rear, giving a total of three USB connections for service keys, barcode scanners, or data-logging media. The low current draw and simple USB expansion make the HMI suitable for retrofits where available cabinet power and space are limited.
