Product Description:
The 5AP920 is a human-machine interface panel manufactured by B & R Automation within the 5AP Single Touch Automation Panels series. Designed for cabinet or arm mounting next to production machinery, the panel serves as a dedicated operator station that combines visualization and touch input in one compact unit. By connecting to the machine controller over fieldbus or Ethernet, it allows maintenance staff to observe status values, acknowledge alarms, and issue set-point changes without relying on a separate PC.
Visual feedback is driven by a TFT Color display that renders process graphics clearly behind a polyester overlay bonded to an aluminum, naturally anodized frame. The front side carries IP65 / NEMA 250 Type 4X protection, so dust and water-jet ingress cannot reach the electronics, while the metal housing on the rear remains at IP20 inside the cabinet. The panel is powered from a 24 VDC control supply that is galvanically isolated from the interface circuits to prevent ground loops. Touch input employs Analog, Resistive sensing, giving reliable response even when the operator wears gloves. A single Type A USB receptacle follows the USB 2.0 standard for service data transfer or memory sticks, and the internal routing keeps wiring short inside the metal housing.
Control accuracy is refined by the Elo, Serial, 12-bit touch controller, which converts analog screen coordinates into consistent digital values for the application software. Mechanical resilience is demonstrated by an operating shock of 15 g for 11 ms, allowing use on stamping presses or mobile platforms. Altitude capability extends up to 3000 m, so the panel can be installed in high-elevation plants without derating. The USB service port can source 500 mA, enabling direct powering of low-current barcode scanners or wireless adapters. Structural stiffening reduces flex during maintenance, and the rear ventilation pattern maintains component temperatures within specification.
