The 5AP1120.156B-000 is a single-touch operator panel produced by B&R Automation in the 5AP Single Touch Automation Panels series. Intended for machine-level human-machine interfaces, the unit combines a color display with an integrated resistive touch layer so production staff can issue commands and view status screens directly from the enclosure door. The panel links to PLC or IPC controllers through the manufacturer’s standard interfaces, allowing it to serve as the primary visualization point in packaging lines, printing machines, or assembly cells. Its integrated display and touch surface provide a centralized interface for monitoring machine conditions, adjusting operating parameters, and responding to process alerts.
The visual subsystem is built around a 15.6-inch diagonal TFT display with a resolution of 1366 × 768 pixels, providing enough pixel density for detailed alarm lists and process graphics. A native contrast ratio of 1000:1 improves legibility in factory lighting by keeping dark objects distinct from illuminated backgrounds. The display supports 16.7 million colors, allowing it to render gradients and equipment photographs without noticeable banding. White luminance is provided by edge-mounted LED backlighting, which distributes light across the display surface. The backlight retains half of its initial intensity after 70,000 hours of operation, supporting continuous use over an extended period.
The front foil, aluminum carrier, and 3 mm compression gasket form a barrier rated at IP65 at the front and IP20 at the rear. This protection allows the touchscreen to withstand washdown spray while the rear remains inside a protected cabinet. Input is captured through analog resistive touch technology, which detects single-finger presses even when users wear thin gloves. The panel has a mass of 4,200 g, limiting the load placed on the enclosure door and mounting hardware. Its housing measures 414 mm in width and 258.5 mm in height, allowing installation in compatible door cutouts. The 3 mm gasket also reduces vibration transfer between the panel and the machine frame.
