The 5AP1120.1505-C02 human-machine interface is built by B & R Automation within the 5AP Single Touch Automation Panels series. Designed for cabinet mounting next to PLC or drive hardware, the unit combines a color display with an integrated touch screen to present machine status and accept operator input. This combination eliminates the need for discrete pushbuttons and indicator lamps, streamlining wiring and providing a consistent panel layout across multiple machines in an automated production line.
The display section uses a TFT color panel measuring 15.0 in diagonally, allowing comfortable viewing from typical operating distances. Its native resolution of 1024 × 768 pixels supports detailed process graphics, while a contrast ratio of 700:1 keeps symbols legible under varied lighting conditions. Illumination is provided by a long-life LED backlight that requires less maintenance than CCFL designs. Input is captured through an analog resistive touch layer. This technology responds to bare fingers, styluses, or gloved hands and works with the serial 12-bit touch controller to provide 4,096-step coordinate accuracy. The touch stack has an optical transmittance of 81% ± 3%, allowing foreground colors to remain vivid.
For enclosure integration, the aluminum front bezel carries an IP65 rating, blocking dust and low-pressure water jets when the panel is gasketed against the cabinet door. The housing measures 435 mm in width and 330 mm in height, providing clear dimensions for the required mounting cutout. The assembled unit weighs 5,000 g, which should be considered when selecting the cabinet door and mounting hardware. A single rear-mounted USB host interface follows the USB 2.0 standard and delivers up to 500 mA of current.
