The 5AP1120.1505-C01 operator panel is produced by B & R Automation as part of the 5AP Single Touch Automation Panels series. This unit integrates a 15-inch TFT display and a single-touch interface into a sealed front frame that mounts on control cabinets. Within an automation cell, the panel acts as the human–machine interface, presenting process values from PLCs, issuing start or stop commands, and giving maintenance personnel direct access to diagnostics without external computers.

The panel carries a 15.0 in diagonal screen that renders images at 1024 x 768 px, allowing standard SCADA layouts to fit without scaling. A native color depth of 16.7 million shades and a contrast ratio of 700:1 help distinguish status icons against process graphics. The TFT color matrix is illuminated by an LED backlight that maintains uniform brightness over the full 435 mm width and 330 mm height of the housing. With front protection rated at IP65, the glass and gasket withstand low-pressure water jets and airborne dust. Despite the aluminum chassis, total mass stays at 5000 g, so the unit can be latched to swing arms without additional reinforcement.

Command entry is registered through a Analog resistive sensor layer bonded to the cover glass. The design passes 81 % ±3 % of the backlight, keeping screen luminance stable while tracking a single stylus or gloved finger. Operators can read the panel from production lines that sit off axis thanks to horizontal viewing limits of 80°/80° and vertical limits of 70°/70°. A rear-mounted controller exposes one 1 x USB 2.0 Type A port for recipe uploads, log extraction, or service keyboards. These interaction, angle, and connectivity allowances let the panel fit enclosures where space, glare, and cable routing are constrained.
