Product Description:
The 5MMDDR.1024-01 is a plug-in memory module manufactured by B & R Automation and supplied as part of the 5AC CNC Addon Modules series. It provides volatile program and buffer storage for the company’s numerical-control CPU cards, letting machine builders increase workspace for tool paths, diagnostic logs, and PLC variables. Installation is completed by seating the module in the controller’s auxiliary memory socket, so no wiring or firmware modification is required for immediate use.
The module employs a 64-bit data bus, enabling eight bytes to transfer on every rising and falling clock edge. Installed capacity is 1 GB, which raises the maximum part-program length the controller can compile in RAM before swapping. The memory array is built from DDR2 SDRAM devices that use differential signaling to reduce electromagnetic interference on densely populated backplanes. With a speed designation of DDR2-667, the silicon runs a 333 MHz internal clock that delivers 5.33 GB/s peak bandwidth through the controller bridge. A 200-pin edge connector mates with the dedicated slot on 5AC mainboards, providing keyed voltage reference and command pins while keeping insertion force low.
Mechanical fit is defined by the SO-DIMM outline, keeping height to 30 mm so the module clears adjacent heatsinks in compact enclosures. Internally, the chips are organized as 128M × 64-bit, a configuration that spreads row addresses across eight banks to shorten page-miss latency under random access loads. Timing parameters align with the PC2-5300 performance class, allowing existing BIOS presets to recognize and clock the module without manual tuning. Because production and validation are carried out by B & R Automation, firmware updates for the 5AC platform retain full compatibility with this memory option across future controller revisions.
