The 5AC901.SSCA-00-IN module is a storage expansion accessory produced by B & R Automation for numerical control systems. It slides into a dedicated chassis slot so an industrial PC can add an internal drive location without external cabling or a separate mounting tray. In machining centers and other automated equipment, the accessory is used to hold storage media for the operating system, part programs, archived recipes, and event logs needed during runtime. Keeping the storage device inside the host cabinet also helps protect the connection path from accidental disconnection during machine operation. The internal mounting approach reduces loose external hardware and keeps the storage path close to the control electronics.

Within the host rack, the module fits the 5AC CNC Addon Modules platform and works with APC910 system units as well as PPC900 bus units. It provides 1 drive bay, so one storage device can be installed in a single carrier. The housing uses a compact slide-in form factor, which allows tool-free insertion along guide rails and keeps the module aligned with the system backplane. That arrangement supports quick installation while preserving a clean internal layout in the control cabinet. When the bay is not occupied, the slot cover should be installed so the enclosure keeps its intended shielding and airflow path.

The bay accepts both solid-state and rotating media, and CFast, HDD, and SSD formats can be secured by the integrated latching frame without extra adapters. This allows a system to use removable media for convenient data transfer or fixed drives for longer-term local storage. That flexibility supports different storage priorities, such as shock resistance, startup speed, or higher capacity, while using the same internal carrier and connection path. With a mass of 195 g, the module places little load on the card guides and remains easy to handle during service. Because the carrier still uses a slide-in mount, it can be removed for drive changes without disturbing field wiring, and the slot cover can be reinstalled immediately after the bay is emptied.
