The 5AC901.LSD3-00 is an add-on communication module manufactured by B & R Automation for the 5AC CNC Addon Modules series. Installed next to the main CNC controller, it extends the backplane with an external field interface so numerical control signals can reach remote drives, operator panels, or diagnostic stations. By moving the network interface to a dedicated board, control designers can preserve CPU slots for motion or safety tasks while maintaining deterministic data exchange within the machine cabinet. This arrangement separates network traffic from the base controller hardware and keeps expansion flexible for machines that use distributed I/O or remote diagnostic access.
For physical connection, the module is fitted with a RJ45, shielded jack that limits electromagnetic interference inside metal enclosures.
