Product Description:
The 5AC901.IRDY-00 is a relay expansion module produced by B&R Automation as part of the 5AC CNC Addon Modules series. Designed for installation on the 5AC backplane, it supplies an additional pair of Form C relay contacts for motion or auxiliary process commands. By presenting dry-contact switching, the module lets a CNC control system interface with pneumatic valves, indicator circuits, or safety gates without subjecting the controller’s low-level outputs to field voltages. It works as an interface layer between logic-level outputs and machine-side loads, maintaining signal integrity and electrical isolation between the control electronics and connected field devices.
This module contains a dual relay channel configured as 1 NC, 1 NO, giving both normally closed and normally open switching paths in a single slot. That arrangement supports interlock logic and basic status switching without extra contact hardware. Each contact can carry up to 2 A of load current and withstand a maximum of 30 VDC, so it is suited for pilot duty or feedback lines rather than high-power mains circuits. Under continuous energization, the board draws only 0.2 W, minimizing heat buildup inside crowded control cabinets. Component reliability through thermal cycling is supported by an allowable operating temperature range of 0 to 60 °C, which matches most enclosure conditioning practices on production floors.
Environmental limits help protect the contact metallurgy during shipping and long-term storage. The assembly can function in ambient relative humidity from 5 to 90% RH, non-condensing, and it tolerates warehousing at 5 to 95% RH, non-condensing when power is removed. Spare parts may be stocked or transported between plants at temperatures from -20 to 60 °C, so no special climate packaging is required for normal indoor handling. These limits help the relays maintain stable coil impedance and contact resistance after storage and transport.
