Product Description:

The 5AC901.FA02-00 cooling module is produced by B&R Automation as part of the 5AC CNC Addon Modules series. It mounts beside power and CPU boards in a CNC cabinet and moves air across heat-generating components. By keeping internal temperatures within design limits, the module supports predictable spindle control, accurate interpolation, and longer component life in automated machining cells and assembly stations. The unit is intended for retrofits and new builds that use 24 VDC fan supplies, allowing it to integrate easily into compatible cabinets.

Inside the frame, 4 axial impellers classified as large fans form the primary airflow path. Each of these fans measures 70 x 70 x 15 mm, providing adequate surface area for cabinet ventilation while fitting within the limited height of rack drawers. At full drive demand, the large fans rotate at a maximum of 2200 rpm with a tolerance of ±250 rpm, moving high volumes of air without excessive turbulence. Acoustic output from each large fan is 28.3 dB(A), which is low enough for installation in operator-attended environments. The module conforms mechanically and electrically to the 5AC CNC Addon Modules series for direct slot mounting and bus wiring.

Secondary cooling is supplied by four small fans situated close to voltage regulators and memory modules. Each compact impeller has a frame size of 50 x 50 x 15 mm, so localized hot spots can be targeted without obstructing cable ducts. When thermal sensors call for additional flow, these small units accelerate to a maximum of 5000 rpm within a ±10% tolerance, generating focused streams that complement the primary circuit. Their individual sound pressure level of 33.5 dB(A) remains below typical shop-floor ambient noise. This arrangement balances fan size, noise, and airflow across the module.
