Product Description:
B & R Automation manufactures the 5AC800.EXT3-K04 module for its 5AC CNC Addon Modules series. It is classified as an operator add-on that supplies hardwired emergency-stop circuitry and dedicated keys for automated machining centers and other CNC installations. The add-on layout gives operators direct access to critical panel functions without relying only on software-based commands.
With a width of 135 mm, a height of 330 mm, and a depth of 34.9 mm, the unit occupies minimal cabinet space while leaving sufficient room for cable entry behind the rear plate. The aluminum housing is made from ADC12, and the front frame is naturally anodized to maintain surface conductivity for reliable grounding. At 1100 g, the panel adds little strain to light-arm mounts while remaining stable under vibration. The sealed construction achieves a protection rating of IP65, so airborne coolant, dust, and low-pressure water jets cannot reach the internal switch matrix. The housing can be mounted directly on door skins or pendant brackets without a secondary enclosure.
The electrical section draws a maximum of 7 W, allowing it to run from regulated 24 V supplies with no thermal derating up to an altitude of 3000 m. The control surface includes twelve LED-backlit function keys, which provide clear visual indication and tactile response during mode or axis selection. It also includes eight illuminated ring keys that show status around their perimeter for quick recognition during operation. A single emergency-stop switch is wired through an integral loop whose resistance is limited to 5.5 Ω, helping Category 0 stop circuits detect line faults. One keyed selector switch permits restricted-access operations, and a separate key switch handles machine-enable tasks. Because the mounting side is on the left, the assembly aligns with standard B & R operator modules and avoids cable crossovers.
