Product Description:
The 5AC800.EXT1-K03 is an add-on module produced by B & R Automation for the 5AC CNC Addon Modules series. It attaches to a control panel or cabinet and supplies a front-mounted USB port together with tri-color status LEDs, giving operators direct media access and visual feedback without opening sealed housings. Because the USB connection and indicators are on the front, routine access can be handled from the machine exterior. This layout helps keep the main enclosure closed during ordinary data transfer tasks. The module streamlines program loading, firmware updates, and simple diagnostic checks in automated machining centers and other CNC-driven production cells.
The module has a depth of 34.9 mm, a width of 426 mm, and a height of 146.8 mm, allowing compact placement alongside existing electronics. At 1600 g, it adds minimal load to light-gauge door assemblies. The broad face and shallow depth help the unit fit door-mounted layouts where rear clearance is limited. The housing is cast from Aluminum (ADC12), which provides electromagnetic shielding while resisting vibration. Two dedicated indicator channels deliver 35 mcd of green output and 60 mcd of yellow output, making status changes readable under normal plant lighting. All optical elements are recessed behind a protective window so dust or coolant spray cannot reach the LED surfaces.
Power draw is limited to 4 W max, allowing the module to share existing 24 V control supplies. The enclosure has an IP65 rating that blocks airborne particles and water jets, permitting use on machine fronts that are routinely cleaned. The single USB receptacle, implemented as USB 1.1 Type A, supports low- and full-speed transfers up to 1.5/12 Mbit/s and can source 500 mA max for thumb drives or service tools. One port keeps wiring simple, while the built-in controller automatically limits inrush current. The panel also presents 3 independent LEDs, so machine code can convey separate operating, warning, and fault states without additional wiring or PLC expansion.
