The 5AC600.SDL0-00 module is produced by B&R Automation and belongs to the 5AC CNC Addon Modules series. It works as a signal extension board that transfers video, USB, and serial display link data between a remote operator panel and a CNC controller cabinet without requiring an additional CPU. This arrangement allows the human-machine interface to be mounted away from the electrical enclosure while keeping peripheral routing straightforward. It is intended for industrial automation systems that need remote display and input connectivity over a compact hardware link.
This module uses a 24-pin DVI-I female connector that carries analog video, digital video, and the SDL bus through one interface. When it is connected to a compatible panel, the board forwards RGB, DVI, SDL signals so display and control data can travel together. The first display USB channel can span up to 40 m, which allows the touchscreen to be installed far from the control electronics. Hot plugging is not supported, so the link must be connected before system power-up to avoid enumeration errors. Minimum compatibility requires the SDLT FPGA to use v00.02, so serial display timing remains aligned with the board drivers.
The graphics section can place data on 2 independent lines, allowing one module to support dual-monitor operation through separate SDL paths. Operating humidity can range from 5 to 90 %RH at 30 °C, which suits most enclosed machine consoles under normal industrial conditions. The DVI connector is rated for 100 mating cycles, allowing periodic panel removal during service without exceeding the intended connector life too quickly. For peripherals connected after the repeater, the total USB reach across both SDL segments is 30 m, which supports remote input devices and temporary USB accessories near the operator station.
