The 5AC600.CFSI-00 module is produced by B&R Automation for the 5AC CNC Addon Modules series. Installed beside motion and I/O boards on a 5AC rack, it adds removable mass storage so recipes, system images, and diagnostic logs can be loaded or retrieved without disassembling the primary CPU. Because the storage medium is removable, archived programs and machine data can be transferred without opening the main processor assembly or disturbing neighboring modules. This gives the CNC platform a simple way to move operational data between machines or backup media. It also supports faster format changes and routine preventive service because the card can be prepared separately from the controller.
At the electrical interface, the board exposes a CompactFlash socket that links directly to the internal IDE bus, allowing industry-standard flash cards to be read and written by the real-time operating system. This arrangement lets the controller treat the card as local storage instead of relying on an external networked device for file access. Card exchange is marked as power-off required, so media should only be removed when the controller is de-energized to avoid bus corruption. Addressing is fixed to Primary Slave, which gives the host a predictable device path during startup. The receptacle uses a Type I slot, and the assembly adds only 100 g to the chassis, so it remains secure under vibration without placing significant load on the rail.
System compatibility is limited to APC620 and Panel PC hosts, which supports direct BIOS recognition without custom drivers. Because the board is supplied as an add-on installation, an existing machine can accept the module through the reserved mezzanine connector and a single retaining screw. The storage interface provides one slot, which keeps the footprint small while still covering typical CNC file-transfer needs. Application software can access the media through standard file-handling functions already used across 5AC-based machines.
