The 5A5001.15 hard disk drive is produced by B&R Automation as part of the 5A5 Hard Disks series. This 2.5-inch magnetic storage unit functions as non-volatile memory inside PLC racks and operator terminals, retaining control files, recipes, and log files that are essential to automated processes. By supplying fixed media that tolerates the vibration and temperature shifts of control cabinets, the drive supports reliable program execution and data collection in industrial environments.
The drive provides a formatted capacity of 30 GB, giving ample space for application code and historical data. Its platters spin at 4,200 rpm, a speed that limits power consumption while maintaining mechanical stability. A 2 MB cache smooths burst reads and writes between the media and the ATA-6 bus, and the host transfer interface sustains up to 100 MB/s so that operating systems load quickly. Average access latency is 7.14 ms, keeping random reads within common cycle times for controllers. Magnetic efficiency is reflected in a recording density of 592 kbpi, packing data tightly on each track without exceeding the thermal margin of the heads and platters.
