The 5A5000.01 is a state-of-the-art interface board designed and produced by B&R an engineering company renowned for producing durable and industry relevant industrial machines and machine component. This interface board is designed to be used in Provit 5000 and 5600 industrial computer series, it does not have the same width as a standard ISA card and can not be used with other types of computer series design. The 5A5000.01 interface board features two combined RS232/RS422/ RS485 connection interface, both interfaces are electrical isolated and operates according to the 16 byte First In First Out principle and are Plug & Play UART 16559 compatible. The operating mode of the two interfaces is selected automatically by the computer depending on the electrical connection.

The 5A5000.01 interface board features a 256 kilobyte SRAM, this internal memory can be addressed through the PCMCIA socket 2. There is also a lithium back up battery for the SRAM memory on the interface board. The 5A5000.01 board is about 1753 millimeters long and 127 millimeters wide, it also has a total weight that is less than 0.18 kilograms. The CAN bus on this interface board meets the CAN2.0B specification, there is also a PCMCIA Slot for external PC cards. The CAN controller can trigger a non-maskable interrupt.

The 5A5000.01 interface board is only suited for industrial applications, it should be protected from extreme ambient temperature, humidity and water condensation. This interface board features an internal hardware security key, it also contains a write protection switch. To ensure optimum communication, the board has an Ethernet connection interface, this allows for communication with other devices in the servo system. Under normal conditions, this interface board can function for more than five years without damage.
