Product Description:
The 4XP0070.00-00W keypad module belongs to the 4XP Keypad Modules series manufactured by B & R Automation. It is a front-mounted human-machine interface component that adds discrete push-button input to distributed control panels in industrial automation cells. By connecting the keypad to the machine network, the unit provides a dedicated tactile interface for operator commands and is suitable for washdown-prone areas. This type of interface is useful where simple, repeatable button input is preferred over a touch display for local machine functions.
This module has a front sealing level of IP65, meaning jets of water or airborne dust cannot penetrate the face when it is installed correctly. The rear side is limited to IP20, so enclosure protection is provided by the host cabinet. Connection is provided through an 8-pin male multipoint plug, so power, bus, and reference lines share one keyed header. Operating logic is supplied from a regulated 24 VDC source, and the electronics draw a steady 0.35 A during normal operation. Five mechanical switches are integrated, giving the user 5 keys that can be mapped to PLC functions such as start, stop, or jog. Internal bus power is available, allowing the unit to energize downstream X2X devices without an auxiliary feed. The station can be placed up to 100 m from the hub along the daisy chain.
The keypad communicates as an X2X Slave, so it occupies one logical address and is scanned cyclically by the remote I/O master. With a weight of 147 g and a depth of 40.4 mm, it adds minimal mass and protrusion to swing-arm stations and compact operator panels. Its height is 52 mm and its width is 197 mm, creating a low-profile rectangle protected by a polyester overlay that resists cleaning chemicals and repeated contact. The shallow housing also helps preserve panel clearance where nearby guards, doors, or support arms limit available space. Installation sites can reach elevations of 3000 m without derating.
