The 4XP0000.00-K22 keypad module is produced by B & R Automation as part of the 4XP Keypad Modules series. This compact operator panel presents tactile keys and is intended for direct machine access in distributed industrial control stations. Integrated into the backplane, the unit serves as a human-machine interface node, forwarding key presses to a central controller and receiving LED feedback data. Its purpose is to simplify user interaction with motion, process, or packaging equipment on the plant floor. The interface stays focused on local command entry and visual indication rather than full-screen operation.
In fieldbus terms, the module communicates over the X2X real-time bus. Toward the master, it contributes a cyclic process image of 1 Byte as the DP frame input, and this byte encodes the instantaneous state of all switches. Conversely, the controller delivers 2 Bytes of output data that govern status LEDs and watchdog bits. GSD support version 2.30 supports configuration with B & R automation software and third-party PROFIBUS engineering tools. The panel exposes exactly 6 momentary keys, and each one uses an individual debounce filter so transient contacts do not create false transitions.
