The 4XP0000.EX-K74 is a keypad module manufactured by B&R Automation for the 4XP Keypad Modules series. It serves as a decentralized operator interface, providing tactile command input and status indication to machines over the X2X real-time network. In industrial automation cells, the unit mounts on panels or arm systems, letting operators trigger predefined functions through dedicated ring keys without routing high-level control wiring back to the main cabinet.

The faceplate carries an IP65 rating, so dust and low-pressure water do not enter the switch area during washdown or cutting-fluid exposure. Supply electronics are stabilized by a nominal bus voltage of 24 VDC, and this low-voltage level simplifies integration with standard PLC power rails while reducing shock risk. Internal regulators limit energy draw to a maximum of 8 W, and instantaneous demand never exceeds 320 mA, allowing the module to share supplies without oversized conductors. For direct feedback, the device has six illuminated ring keys. The count of 6 allows separate machine functions such as start, stop, reset, jog, acknowledge, and mode selection to be assigned in a clear and consistent layout.

The module remains fully functional up to 3000 m elevation, so it can be installed in high-altitude facilities without derating the backlight or logic circuits. Power arrives through a compact 4-pin M8 connector, and the bus signals pass through a rugged 4-pin M12 connector. The keypad operates as an X2X Type Slave, so it functions as a subordinate node on the network.
