The 4XP0000.00-KA4 keypad module is produced by B&R Automation within the 4XP Keypad Modules series. It is deployed as a decentralized operator interface that links directly to the X2X real-time bus, giving machine builders a compact way to add localized human-machine interaction. By relaying key presses back to the controller, the device supports rapid mode changes, acknowledgment steps, or service menus on automated production equipment.
Electrical consumption remains modest. The module operates from a nominal supply of 24 VDC, drawing up to 320 mA and therefore not exceeding 8 W under full illumination. Communication and power share a single rear 4-pin M12 connector, which simplifies daisy-chain wiring and reduces panel depth. Because both the front foil and the backside gasket meet Front/Back IP65, the unit tolerates wash-down cleaning and dusty filling lines. Internal bus power is present, allowing downstream devices to be energized without a separate feed.
The housing is formed from steel sheet, galvanized, delivering rigidity and corrosion resistance while keeping weight low. An abrasion-resistant polyester overlay protects legends against oils and solvents. Operators interact through 6 ring keys, and each key is surrounded by an LED ring for status indication. Station segments can be spaced up to 100 m apart along the X2X backbone, giving designers freedom in large machines. The assembly weighs only 600 g, which simplifies mounting on light brackets.
