The 4XP0000.00-K43 keypad module is produced by B & R Automation within the 4XP Keypad Modules series. It serves as an operator input station, presenting illuminated pushbuttons and an integrated emergency-stop device for direct machine control in distributed systems. As an X2X slave, it exchanges status and command data with a primary CPU over a single cable, allowing decentralized installation on the machine frame. Its compact panel format minimizes enclosure space while still providing tactile confirmation through ring-lit keys.
The module is fed with 24 VDC and draws only 240 mA in steady-state operation, a level suitable for Class 2 power supplies. At power-up, inrush current can momentarily rise to 20 A for <1 ms, so fuse and relay sizing must account for that brief demand. A station spacing of up to 100 m permits mounting far from the control cabinet without repeaters. User interaction is handled by 6 round illuminated ring keys, and the color layout of 2 R/Y/G/W, 3 R/Y/G, and 1 R/Y/G/B supports clear status indication. The front aluminum bezel secures to the machine door and carries a protection rating of IP65, which supports washdown cleaning. All terminations are routed through an 8-pin male multipoint connector at the rear, and the housing measures 170 mm wide by 80 mm high, giving a shallow profile for crowded panels.
The rear housing depth is only 32 mm, so clearance behind the mounting surface is minimal, and the total mass of 430 g reduces load on light-gauge doors. Back-side protection is rated IP20, which is acceptable inside a closed enclosure, while the front carries the Rafix 22FS+ 1.30.273.511/0300 emergency-stop button. Two redundant switching paths are provided by two normally closed contacts, allowing integration into safety-rated stop circuits. The multicolor ring layout of the keys removes the need for external pilot lamps, and the slim enclosure helps prevent interference with adjacent devices on the panel.
