Product Description:
The 4XP0000.00-K40 keypad module is manufactured by B&R Automation as part of the 4XP Keypad Modules series. It serves as a decentralized operator interface that delivers start, stop, and mode-select commands directly to the machine controller over the series fieldbus. Mounted on a door or frame, the module combines illuminated pushbuttons with a sealed faceplate so operators can interact with packaging stations, material-handling cells, or small assembly fixtures without accessing the main control cabinet. This arrangement supports local control points where direct input is needed close to the machine section being monitored.
The front surface is protected to IP65, permitting washdown cleaning, while the rear side carries a more limited IP20 rating that requires enclosure mounting. A supply of 24 VDC is distributed through the internal bus, removing the need for a separate power feed. With a depth of only 37 mm, the unit fits into shallow control boxes and leaves clearance for wiring ducts. Communication uses the X2X slave interface, providing deterministic data exchange with B&R controllers along the daisy-chained station network. An 8-pin male multipoint connector handles both signal and auxiliary power, and the naturally anodized aluminum frame, polyester overlay, and metal housing resist abrasion from repeated key presses.
The faceplate width is 90 mm and the height is 80 mm, allowing multiple modules to be arranged side by side on a single panel. Four square ring keys, identified as 4 pcs., give tactile feedback and accept red, green, or yellow inserts for clear status signaling. The colored inserts help distinguish command and status functions during normal machine operation. Data and power can be propagated up to 100 m from the head station, supporting distributed layouts on long conveyor lines. The combination of anodized aluminum and polyester overlay helps protect the legends from solvents and repeated handling.
