The 4PW035.E300-02 panel is a human-machine interface produced by B & R Automation within the 4PW Compact HMI Panels series. Intended for space-limited operator stations, the unit enables the local display of process values and keypad-driven entry of commands for industrial controllers. It combines a graphic screen, a membrane key switch array, and a proprietary serial link so machine builders can mount one low-power front end on cabinet doors or pendant arms without the complexity of a PC-based terminal. By separating visualization from control logic, it supports modular machine layouts and allows the controller to remain in the main electrical enclosure.
The visual element is a monochrome LCD that renders text and bitmap symbols at 160 × 80 pixels, which provides enough space for alarm lists, parameter pages, or simple trend graphs. An edge-mounted LED backlight supplies uniform illumination and prolongs service life compared with CCFL lamps. The electronics operate from a nominal 24 VDC supply obtained from the control cabinet’s auxiliary power rail, and total demand stays below 6 W during full brightness and key scanning. Because heat dissipation is low, the panel can be sealed on the front while keeping internal temperatures within component limits. Character generation supports European and Cyrillic alphabets, allowing the same panel to display information for multilingual production environments.
The operator surface is protected to IP65, so dust and water jets cannot reach the display or keys when the bezel is correctly gasketed. Communication with the controller occurs over the X2X system bus through an integrated eight-pin male connector. Reliable data exchange is maintained at station spacings of up to 100 m when shielded twisted-pair cable is used. A total of 26 tactile keys provides direct access to operating functions, and ten of those keys include built-in status lights for visual feedback.
