The 4PPC70.0702-22B is a compact operator panel from B & R Automation in the 4PPC Power Panels series. It combines a controller-class CPU with an integrated touchscreen to give machine builders a single module for visualization, local logic, and fieldbus interfacing. In an automation cell, this panel functions as the human-machine interface, allowing operators to issue commands, observe process data, and store recipe parameters without requiring a separate industrial PC.
Processing tasks are handled by an Atom E620T with a clock speed of 333 MHz. The processor is paired with 256 MB of DRAM for code execution and buffering, while program and operating system images reside in 2 GB eMMC flash memory, which is resistant to shock and vibration. To safeguard control flags after a power loss, 32 kB of FRAM stores remanent variables. The fanless cooling concept eliminates moving parts, and the unit draws a maximum of 15 W from the 24 V DC supply. Application software uses an integrated controller to drive an 800 × 480 pixel resolution graphics layer, and the housing dimensions of 197 × 140 × 51 mm allow installation in shallow door cutouts without interfering with nearby components.
The front face carries a TFT color panel with a 7.0-inch diagonal visible area. Its analog-resistive touch overlay responds to gloved operation, while the LED backlight produces 500 cd/m² for visibility under factory lighting. After roughly 50,000 h, the backlight output falls to half of its original brightness, supporting long service intervals. An IP65 front rating helps prevent dust ingress and protects the front surface during washdown. The sealed bezel, brightness level, and touch interface help the panel remain readable and responsive on packaging lines, filling systems, and material-handling stations where oil mist, cleaning chemicals, and temperature swings are common.
