The B&R Automation 4PPC Power Panels series includes the industrial HMI controller 4PPC30.043F-22B. This power panel combines an ARM Cortex-A8 CPU with an integrated touch display to execute machine control tasks and present process data directly at the equipment. Within an automation cell, it replaces separate PLC, display, and keypad units by merging visualization, user input, and deterministic logic in a single housing.
The panel is built around an ARM Cortex-A8 processor clocked at 1 GHz, allowing deterministic execution of control loops while rendering graphics for the integrated 4.3 in TFT. Its graphics engine drives a 480 × 272 pixel resolution, and the LED backlight supplies 450 cd/m² of luminance for visibility on factory floors. Volatile storage includes 256 MB of DDRAM for program variables, supplemented by 8 kB of FRAM that retains critical counters across power cycles. Application code and recipes are stored in 512 MB of flash, which is rated for 20,000 write cycles and a data retention period of 10 years. These memory resources let the device run both the real-time application and the user interface without external memory.
The operating envelope is optimized for cabinet or arm mounting, and the aluminum housing measures 140 × 96 × 38.3 mm. The analog resistive touch layer permits gloved interaction without recalibration, and the unit has an IP65 front / IP20 rear protection rating so the screen resists dust and washdown spray while the back remains suited for protected enclosures. Field wiring connects through two USB 2.0 ports, one Ethernet port, one CAN port, and one RS232 port, enabling integration with drives, barcode scanners, and higher-level networks. Power is supplied at 24 VDC, and the panel draws a maximum of 12.5 W, which is low enough for fanless convection cooling.
