B&R Automation produced the 4PPC30.043F-21B as part of the 4PPC Power Panels series. This panel combines control logic, communication, and a graphic operator interface in one device, enabling it to serve as the local human-machine interface on packaging machines, assembly stations, and processing lines. By embedding the controller next to the display, it removes the need for a separate PLC, shortens wiring runs, and allows operators to initiate recipes, acknowledge alarms, and view process metrics through its touchscreen.
Processing performance is delivered by an ARM Cortex-A8 CPU clocked at 1 GHz, a pairing that executes deterministic control loops while keeping power draw low. Application code resides in 512 MB of flash, and temporary variables are held in 256 MB of DDRAM so larger trend buffers and recipe tables can be manipulated without paging. The LED-illuminated display measures 4.3″ diagonally and renders graphics at a resolution of 480 × 272 in WQVGA format, a pixel density suited for clear status icons on compact machines. Two CAN bus channels connect to distributed I/O slices, and a 10/100 Mbit/s Ethernet interface links the unit to SCADA or higher-level motion controllers. The analog resistive touchscreen accepts gloved or stylus input without recalibration.
Field wiring is simplified by the 24 VDC nominal supply, which is common to sensors and valve terminals. On the mechanical side, the front panel withstands washdown spray with an IP65 front rating, while the rear is limited to IP20 for installation inside a cabinet. Backlight life is extended because the display reaches half brightness only after 30,000 h of operation. Service access and data retrieval are handled through two USB 2.0 ports, and the housing occupies 140 mm of width and 96 mm of height, making it suitable for tight operator station cutouts.
