The 4PP481.1043-B5 Power Panel combines visualization, control, and network connectivity in a single operator terminal produced by B&R Automation for the 4PP Power Panels series. Installed in a cabinet door or machine fascia, the unit serves as the human-machine interface and executes localized logic tasks, allowing industrial equipment to present process data, accept touch input, and relay commands to supervisory PLCs. It houses an x86 processor, an integrated display, and field interfaces to streamline installation where space is limited and wiring paths must stay compact. It can also present operator prompts, machine states, and basic diagnostics directly at the point of use.

Its active-matrix TFT monitor provides 10.4 in of viewable diagonal and renders graphics at 640 x 480 pixels, while a luminance of 350 cd/m² keeps text legible in factory lighting and status screens easy to read. The surface is fitted with an Elo 12-bit resistive touch controller linked through a serial channel, so menu navigation and data entry occur without an external keyboard or mouse. A fanless Geode LX800 500 MHz CPU drives the interface and control functions, supported by 64 MB of main DRAM for program execution and data buffering. Connectivity to plant networks is available through an Intel 82551ER MAC that negotiates at 10/100 Mbps, and a dedicated RS232 port supports point-to-point links up to 115 kBaud for legacy devices.

For mechanical integration, the front bezel carries IP65 / NEMA 250 Type 4X protection, permitting washdown cleaning when the unit is mounted from the front of a panel. The unit has 2 aPCI expansion slots for option cards, giving the platform room for added interface functions when the base configuration is not enough. Nonvolatile storage includes 2 MB of flash memory and 512 KB of battery-backed SRAM, which retain the operating system, recipes, and alarm logs during power cycling. The housing measures 323 × 358 × 108 mm, includes two USB host ports for service tools, and relies on the integrated Ethernet hardware to offload processor cycles during heavy network traffic instead of leaving all communication handling to the main processor.
