The 4PP451.0571-75 operator terminal is produced by B&R Automation within the 4PP Power Panels series. Designed as an integrated HMI and control node, the unit provides operators with local visualization during machine operation. It also executes machine-level logic, so it can replace separate PLC and display hardware in automated packaging, handling, and assembly stations. Because the interface and control functions are combined, the terminal suits machines that need localized monitoring, alarm display, and command entry at the point of use.
Processing performance is supplied by a Geode LX800 CPU running at 500 MHz, paired with 128 MB SDRAM for the operating system and application code. A 2 MB flash module stores system software, and one aPCI expansion slot permits fieldbus or specialty I/O add-ons when extra communication or machine-specific functions are needed. The front TFT measures 5.7 in diagonally, renders graphics at 320 × 240 pixels, reaches 500 cd/m² of brightness, and has a 350:1 contrast ratio, so status data remains legible under factory lighting. Typical energy demand stays at 15 W, which helps when cabinet cooling is limited in compact enclosures.
For networked automation, communication is provided by the Intel 82551ER 10/100 Ethernet controller, an RS-232 programming port, and two USB host connectors. Removable data logging or recipe storage can be added through a CompactFlash slot that accepts the Type I card format. Machine variables that must survive power cycling are buffered in 512 kB of SRAM, and the panel draws a nominal current of 0.63 A from the system supply during operation. The Ethernet, serial, USB, and removable storage connections allow the unit to exchange data with external devices while keeping retained application data available after shutdown.
