The 4PP420.1505-B5 Power Panel is manufactured by B & R Automation and belongs to the 4PP Power Panels series. It combines a touchscreen operator interface with an integrated controller, so a single unit can run machine logic and display process data. In an automation cell, the panel mounts on the cabinet door, allowing operators to issue commands and review alarms without opening the enclosure. This layout also helps keep sensitive electronics isolated from airborne contaminants.

Processing is handled by a Geode LX800 CPU running at 500 MHz. The system provides 128 MB of SDRAM for cyclic tasks, 512 kB of SRAM for high-speed retention, and 2 MB of flash for onboard software and recipes. Two APCI slots accept fieldbus or specialty I/O cards, while two USB ports support data backup devices. Graphics are rendered at 1024 × 768 pixels and shown with a luminance of 350 cd/m², so diagrams remain legible on brightly lit factory floors. The analog resistive touch technology responds to fingers, styluses, or gloved hands, making it suitable for packaging, assembly, and material-handling equipment.

The cast-metal housing measures 435 × 330 × 109 mm and holds a 15 in (381 mm) TFT that maintains a contrast ratio of 1000:1 for clear differentiation between status colors. The front surface carries an IP65 rating, sealing the electronics against dust and low-pressure water jets encountered during washdown or maintenance. Typical power draw is just 30 W, which limits heat dissipation inside the control cabinet. With a half-brightness time of 70,000 h, the backlight supports multiyear round-the-clock operation before noticeable fading, and the unit’s resistive overlay tolerates routine cleaning with alcohol-based agents used in food or pharmaceutical lines.
