Product Description:
B & R Automation manufactures the 4PP420.1505-75/PL3, an HMI unit in the 4PP Power Panels series. The panel combines a color display, touch input, and an embedded controller to present process data, accept operator commands, and interface with PLC networks in automated machinery. Integrating these functions in one module helps reduce cabinet wiring and simplifies installation on door fronts or swing arms.
The unit employs a 15 in (381 mm) active-matrix screen with a native resolution of 1024 x 768 px, supplying enough pixels for detailed mimic diagrams and trend charts. Readability is supported by 330 cd/m² of brightness, and a contrast ratio of 300:1 keeps alarm colors distinct from the background. A regulated input of 24 VDC feeds the controller logic, backlight inverter, and touch electronics from the standard control bus. One APCI expansion slot is provided for optional fieldbus cards, while the Elo serial 12-bit controller tracks finger or stylus position on the analog resistive overlay. Two USB device ports follow the USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 standards, so recipe files, service keyboards, or barcode scanners can be connected during setup or maintenance.
USB connectivity supports a signaling rate of 480 Mbit/s and can source up to 500 mA, eliminating the need for powered hubs when low-current peripherals are attached. Mechanical clearance is simplified by an enclosure depth of 86 mm, yet the bezel is 435 mm wide to cover larger cutouts and leave room for gasket compression. Height is 330 mm, so the panel fits within common machine door spaces. The resistive touch surface tolerates gloves and moisture, making the panel suitable for food, packaging, and material-handling environments where capacitive sensors may fail. Serial touch communication also limits radiated emissions, easing electromagnetic compatibility checks alongside drives and contactors.
