The 4PP420.1043-K08 is an integrated operator panel from B&R Automation in the 4PP Power Panels series. By combining a touchscreen, processor, and memory in one front-mountable assembly, it provides a compact human-machine interface for automated lines and individual machines. The panel executes user graphics, handles light control tasks, and exchanges data with higher-level PLCs, allowing operators to monitor machine states, enter setpoints, and issue commands directly at the point of use.
The VGA display renders graphics at 640 x 480 pixels, a resolution that matches many legacy SCADA templates and minimizes scaling artifacts on older visualization layouts. Screen readability in bright production areas is aided by a luminance of 350 cd/m², while the internal Geode LX800 500 MHz processor supplies enough throughput for animated objects and local recipe handling. Application code and the operating system use 64 MB DDRAM, allowing sizable visualization projects without paging delays. For washdown or dusty areas, the aluminum bezel and polyester overlay achieve IP65 / NEMA 250 Type 4X protection, so front cleaning with low-pressure water jets does not jeopardize the electronics.
The TFT diagonal measures 10.4 in (264 mm), giving operators finger targets that remain usable when they wear gloves on the analog-resistive touch layer. Network communication occurs over an autosensing 10/100 Mbps Ethernet port, and legacy devices can be linked through the serial channel that supports RS232 signaling at 115 kBaud. Two USB sockets accept memory sticks or scanners, while 512 KB of battery-backed SRAM stores machine counters across power cycles and 2 MB of flash memory stores system data for local operation. The LED backlight is specified for 55000 hours, extending service life and maintaining consistent contrast through typical equipment operating cycles in continuous production environments.
